the Quick
My friend Jason is working on a little music magazine, called the Quick, whose focus is the transcendental/spiritual/brilliancy of music itself… Many of the bands he will be writing about/interviewing are (as he says) “Down with the G-O-D”; but not so much a limitation as the concept allows him to talk to anyone and shapes editorial how he analyzes and considers their music…
In any case, I am trying to come up with a really quick black and white concept for him — steven is going to do some element illustration (maybe for titles, maybe to differentiate sections/features) to give it something a little more unique. I like the titles and the little arrow/pixel pattern so far — but I don’t love the actual article text here (I think it would be nice to differentiate what is article text from what is “about the magazine text”; hence, the combined use of helvetica and mrs. eaves).

I really like the look that you have going. The way you’ve used the arrows and the fades are really great and I love the photographic treatment and concentration of color there.
Graphically I like the layout/balance and typography that you have going, although you may have one too many fonts in there.
Functionally I don’t really understand how this would work. Are we looking at the home page here? The functionality discussion might one be better had in person.
But again, I really like the style of this. It feels simple, not simplistic. Good job.
