I’d vote for this guy!

This is by far, hands down, the best political ad that has ever been created.
To bad the dude is on the Argentinean ballot. Otherwise I would have voted for him.

enjoy!

That’s really great. It must have taken some serious time and thought to make all that work.

Any idea as to who made it and why it’s in English?

It won silver in Cannes, thats all I can tell you, fro right now. I found this though

Anyone who uses Yann Tiersen in a political ad, would certainly get my vote! ;)

oh my goodness, I love that — brilliant. why can’t more campaigning be like this?

Okay… we all love the ad and the concept is great. Now let me play the jerk (not much of a stretch I know)

As clever as it is… does running the ad backwards add anything to the message?
I guess it might capture someone’s attention and it will probably prove to be very viral but is the average voter going to sit through this? Or even worse what if they sit through it and flip off the TV in disgust when it gets to the candidates name. Half of the ad is dedicated to putting forth a negative message about the country and then associating it with a candidate at the end. The second half is basically undoing what the first half did.

Maybe it works because Argentina is so fucked that they message of change will resonate.

Also… he doesn’t bad mouth his competitors at all in this commercial, it’s obviously not going to work. Studies have proven, the easiest most effective way to make yourself look better in the eyes of the voters is through slander.

(Just kidding about that last bit)

One last time… I love this.

Well John, I think we’d have to look for studies showing the average attention span of your average Argentinian, which I just suppose off the top of my head is waaaay longer than that of the average Americans. Relative economic stability tends to do that to a country. ;)

Studies have proven, the easiest most effective way to make yourself look better in the eyes of the voters is through slander.

Even though this may be tongue-in-cheek, it’s a valid point, and I’d hazard a guess that mud-slinging isn’t a purely American phenomena. However, that said, we may be seeing a decline in the effectiveness of negative ads (at least I want to hope so) in this country. I want to gather that it’s because there is only so much shit-talking any one country can stand. So I have to wonder - given the state that Argentia is in - might this positive message, in fact, be more effective?

For example, check out this latest ad by Connecticut Democratic Ned Lamont. It has been highly viral and has generated a lot of positive press for the Lamont campaign.

*For reference, Lamont is running against incumbet Senator Joe Lieberman, who has been running a particularly nasty and fact-challenged campaign against Mr. Lamont.

  7. David Says:

Oh, and I wanted also to say that the ad Misha posted seems like a “response” to some negative ads that may have been run about the politian in question. Maybe?

Like, “Well, this is what they tell you I stand for, which is really just a twisted version of the truth.”

A rather clever way of hijacking the negative messaging coming from a competitor. Kinda’ neutralizes it, in effect.
