girly?

I am starting to get into adding details and fun stuff to the activewear site project. One of the main concerns for the “look” is that it remain pretty “girly” while still having lots of punchy color (i.e. every item comes in this set of colors, and to play on that I want to keep navigation and features consistent while shifting their color identities) and emphasizing the “mantra” thematic as a selling point.

I bought Buffet Script to help with this, and I think it adds a good girly-side surfer-nostalgic pop to some of the text/detail. What do you think?

I really like the feel of it. The big swirl shapes you’re using bring a lot of motion or activity to the page, which I assume is what you want in a site for active –wear.

Buffet Script also helps to add motion to it and add some femininity to the designs although I think the fact that women are prominently featured on all pages makes it clear who the target audience is.

I was going to write a list of the words that came to mind when looking at the comps and I realized that they are the same words you’ve highlighted… active, strong, and peaceful and I’d add feminine.

The only page that leaves something to be desired is the shopping cart. I think you’ve lost a lot of the fullness of the other pages. Maybe you need to use an image in the side bar or header…

Could post some bigger comps too… I think you’ve gotten the feeling down but I can’t really tell how effective the site is from and information architecture standpoint based on these comps.

Looks VERY Invista! LOL! :-) Sooo much better than the curent site… but I agree with torres… the product info pages don’t carry any of the energy over from the main sections at all.

Some of it is the boring looking product shots… I’d play with getting rid of the actual woman anfd only showing product… the advatage of this too is that the user can “imagine” themselves in the product. Just a thought! Good luck!

thanks for the commments, guys! Yes, I think that is an interesting idea: how to help a girl imagine herself in the gear, while at the same time alleviating the trouble with dull product shots… Some of these shots are great, but some of them certainly leave something to be desired.

I have to get back to this site this weekend… someone has been keeping me too busy (you know I love it) to be getting much done on this!
