Animal Kingdom : recycled leather

During my early POPstick days, I became a little obsessed with finding ways to use leather scraps, thanks to the handoffs from Schrut & Ashe. I started with magazine racks, then tried wallets. Now, I am trying to incorporate it into some totes, but occasionally I come across amazing things like this, and am re-inspired.
Each little animal acts as a receptacle of some kind: the pig is a minibank, the kangaroo is a little pocket for pens and note paper, the tortoise is a closed container for anything from paperclips to peppermints. The ingenuity of mini-form animals in a functional object is just wonderful, like a little smile sitting at the corner of your desk.

I saw these for sale in the barney’s holiday catalog (printed on only the finest of papers!), but a little web research show that they are also available at the MOMA and (all animals) at this site.
