chicago

we had a lovely time in chicago. there was pie, quimby’s, a new bookmark, lots of neutra (or almost neutra), and naps in the park! the ferris wheel wasn’t quite terrifying enough for me, but I was pretty excited to see some nifty things in the basement of the art institute of chicago, and have a picnic in the lovely lurie garden.
our highlights: modern thought facility at the art institute of chicago, ed ruscha books, PIE the restaurant, Tree Studios in the Medinah Center (the most amazing bloomingdale’s), wicker park, splitting a roasted chicken at Feed, lots of lovely buildings, the humor of taking the wrong architecture boat tour, finding lots of chie mihara shoes (and being so responsible as to not buy any!), art in hejfina (and subsequent purchase of two of the same books, oop!)

John will also be happy to learn that we walked an incredible amount in Chicago — partly due to my tendencies, and partly due to misreading distances on the map. In fact, we walked 15 miles, mostly in two days plus a third morning stroll. With plenty of good sustenance, it was no problem for my fellow, with a recovering ankle from a skateboarding injury!
