design by the book

embrace your public library.

grace bonney of design*sponge (who I absolutely adore for many reasons besides the fact that as a cultural celebrity, she always has time to respond to an email that I send her) just posted her final episode of design by the book, a collaboration with the new york public library. She has been working with the library on this series to highlight local design talent in nyc, the incredible creative resources the new york public library has to offer, and document the creative process from start to finish.

even if you don’t get to visit and hold the books in your hand (or get incredible help: the librarian in this episode I’d like to coddle as my new bestest friend), you can still peek at the digital archives. the new york public library has a massive amount of stuff online, fun to peruse and see what you come up with (America’s first illustrator: Alexander Anderson?)
