the new york times magazine is always a bevy of ideas—beyond the sometimes interesting and sometimes terrifying title treatments of william safire’s on language column (always somehow different than the design direction of the rest of the magazine), the overall illustration and headline styling is often something that remains in my reference files for years to come.


this week, the magazine has introduced me to the heads of state, the talented twosome of Jason Kernevich and Dustin Summers who got their start making silkscreen posters for Philadelphia’s independent music scene. some images from their back catalog are below…
